About the Author
Mahnoor Rauf is a young writer drawn to the little things that often go unnoticed— the feelings that linger, the thoughts left unsaid, the look in someone’s eyes when they reveal more than they meant to. Through poetry and prose she uses metaphor to explore emotions that surround us, turning them into something tangible. For her, writing is a way to help others understand the things they may never have thought twice about, or to make them feel the weight of emotions that can be more consuming than they seem.

I’m waiting—
for my lighthouse,
where I can finally
lower my anchor.
Happiness moves like the wind.
You don’t realize when it comes or goes.
The breeze may stay,
convince you it will linger,
but if the wind were constant—
we’d never feel a breeze.
This library can’t burn without me in it.
If my past was gone, what would remain of me?
Maybe this library is a maze,
but I have memorized every turn.
And I know which books will never burn.
