About the Book
Set against the backdrop of the pre and post-Partition era, The Inheritance of Silence traces the life of Haider who grows up surrounded by emotional distance and an unsettling silence within his own home. Raised by his paternal grandparents, he spends his childhood longing for his father’s affection. His world unravels when he discovers the truth about his mother and the obvious reason for his father’s negligence towards him. Consumed by isolation, Haider begins to resent his own existence. His life becomes steeped in anger and blame, which he directs at his mother for abandoning him, oblivious to her side of the story.
Amid the bustling winds of Lahore, The Inheritance of Silence delves into themes of generational repercussions, family bonds, and the profound effects of unspoken truths.
