The Inheritance of Soft Things is a poetry collection about the quiet education of love—how it is learned, practiced, and carried through everyday gestures. Rooted in family, womanhood, and ritual, these poems honour tenderness as something inherited rather than chosen, shaped by the presence of two grandmothers who teach love without naming it. Moving through kitchens, conversations, bodies, and memory, the book explores how softness becomes a form of knowing, and how love is shaped long before it is named.

About the Author

Sarah Ahmad is a poet, yogi, and dreamer shaped by two cities—Karachi, where she was raised, and Istanbul, where she continues to grow. Her writing lives in the quiet spaces between memory and ritual, drawing deeply from the shifting shapes of home.

The Inheritance of Soft Things is her first published book, a collection rooted in the love and legacy of the grandmothers who shaped her beginnings.
