About the Book
What Mercy Leaves Behind follows Basaam, a young Pakistani man marked by a rare condition and childhood trauma, who finds healing through his grandmother's faith, the art of calligraphy, and the Quran. His journey intertwines with Aalam, a grieving cynic who rediscovers God through their friendship, and Mirah, a diplomat whose unwavering love becomes a divine mercy. Together, they learn that every soul’s deepest thirst is quenched not by the world, but by the boundless, guiding love of Allah.
About the Author
Rabnain Zakir is a Pakistani girl who has always dreamed of flying; whether on the wings of achievement or with the lightness of a pure heart. I hold a degree in Peace and Conflict Studies which I completed with a distinction, learning to trace the fragile maps of human understanding and emotions.
But my truest instrument is not a camera; it is language. With words I wish to photograph all that I have learned, all that I have felt and all that I have seen. I offer these pages in hope that they might me useful, that they might feel like a breeze to anyone who has ever felt themselves nowhere to be found. At least that is my dream.
