Not My Father
by Ayesha Zahid

Ayesha Zahid
I have always felt drawn to the arts, whether it be the act of picking up a brush and attempting to capture that which my eyes have gazed upon, or writing down the experiences and emotions that otherwise can not be verbalized. I enjoy the security a piece of writing provides, one may almost nuzzle themselves within it’s shelter hoping to feel validated in some way. While I do spend most of my days, pursuing painting, I am typically overcome with the desire to pen down what I deem to be particularly significant to express in that moment. The good thing about writing is that when you are honest with it, it is truly your own. Your unique perspective, whether it be something that struck your interest or perhaps even the experience of growing up to be a woman.
