Recipe for Izzat
Beenish Farhan
I’m Beenish Farhan, a 25-year-old girl residing in apocalyptic Lahore. Like all of you, I have dreamed of being published since I endeavored in the transformative realm of literature. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was my first read and as soon as I opened the page, it was love at first sight: I was in awe of the magic of words and the spell they cast.
Apart from reading, I love listening to female artists, currently, Gracie Abrams is someone who speaks to me. As a Kashmiri mountain girl, I am mesmerized by the beauty of my ancestral homeland and visit the northern areas every summer. I am also passionate about causes bigger than me: feminism and mental health, and a very firm advocate for their significance.
I am so excited for you to read my voice for this themed anthology: where I explore how Pakistani women reclaim their voices and identity amid traditions that seek to silence them. Follow me @beenishhfarhan so we can be pen pals!
