About the Book
This book was written in honour of my parents. It is a collection of some of the recipes that I make for my father, who is a post-kidney transplant patient. The recipes have been changed according to general advice from nephrologists for post-transplant care.
Included images of the dishes to make the book more interesting. I listed the no. of ingredients, the quantities, the equipment, no. of servings and notes for each recipe.
I made brief notes for the methods of each recipe. At the end of some recipes, I added pictorial representations of the instructions too.
About the Author
I am Xayna Rashad. I am 17 and currently a pre-medical A level student enrolled at Beaconhouse College Programme, Multan. I was born and raised in Multan. In 2019, my father had to undergo a kidney transplant, and my mother gave him one of her kidneys. That time had the greatest impact on who I am as a person now. At the age of 9, I was taking care of my parents and my younger sister in Istanbul, after the transplant. I took charge – groceries, cooking, cleaning. You name it, I did it. I realized that the existence of a person is so important yet so fragile. After the transplant, I began cooking specifically for my father, taking his nephrologist’s notes into consideration. I took recipes and changed them according to his needs. Back then, my research had no specific direction – I was just doing it for baba. A year ago, I realized that more patients should benefit from my work and I began working on my cookbook, which is finally done, Alhamdulillah. That’s all about me and my book!
